Pesquisadores do Programa de P\u00f3s-Gradua\u00e7\u00e3o em Biodiversidade, Ambiente e Sa\u00fade (PPGBAS\/Uema), em uma colabora\u00e7\u00e3o interinstitucional, publicaram o artigo cient\u00edfico <i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"258\">&#8220;DNA barcoding reveals taxonomic uncertainties and cryptic lineages of fish from the Mearim River basin, Maranh\u00e3o, Brazil&#8221;<\/i> no prestigiado peri\u00f3dico internacional <i data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"420\">Biodiversity and Conservation<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"4\">O estudo utilizou a avan\u00e7ada t\u00e9cnica de <b data-path-to-node=\"4\" data-index-in-node=\"40\">DNA Barcoding<\/b> (focada no gene mitocondrial COI) para identificar e caracterizar a diversidade de peixes da Bacia do Rio Mearim. O principal objetivo do trabalho \u00e9 fornecer subs\u00eddios cient\u00edficos s\u00f3lidos para futuras estrat\u00e9gias de manejo sustent\u00e1vel e conserva\u00e7\u00e3o ambiental na regi\u00e3o.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"5\">Mapeamento Abrangente e Parcerias<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"6\">As coletas foram realizadas ao longo de toda a bacia, abrangendo os rios <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"73\">Mearim, Pindar\u00e9, Graja\u00fa, Flores e Corda<\/b>. A equipe de pesquisadores coletou amostras em nove pontos estrat\u00e9gicos que cobrem os munic\u00edpios de Pindar\u00e9-Mirim, Penalva, Graja\u00fa, Josel\u00e2ndia, Vit\u00f3ria do Mearim, Lajes do Curral, Pedreiras e Barra do Corda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"7\">O sucesso da pesquisa foi fruto de uma forte rede de coopera\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica entre a <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"83\">UEMA<\/b> (incluindo pesquisadores do <i data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"116\">campus<\/i> Caxias, como o Prof. Dr. Elmary da Costa Fraga e a Profa. Dra. Maria Claudene Barros), o <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"214\">Instituto Federal do Maranh\u00e3o (IFMA)<\/b>, a <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"254\">Universidade Federal do Par\u00e1 (UFPA)<\/b>, a <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"293\">Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL)<\/b> e o <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"337\">ICMBio<\/b>.<\/p>\n<div>\n<div id=\"attachment_2259\" style=\"width: 536px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ppgbas.uema.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2259\" class=\"wp-image-2259\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ppgbas.uema.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1-300x260.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"526\" height=\"456\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.ppgbas.uema.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1-300x260.png 300w, https:\/\/www.ppgbas.uema.br\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/image-1.png 486w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2259\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Imagens retiradas do artigo<\/em><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"8\">Resultados Impressionantes: Desvendando Esp\u00e9cies Cr\u00edticas<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9\">Ao todo, os cientistas obtiveram <b data-path-to-node=\"9\" data-index-in-node=\"33\">914 sequ\u00eancias do gene COI<\/b>, permitindo catalogar com precis\u00e3o molecular:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"10\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"10,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">74 esp\u00e9cies<\/b> de peixes;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\">Distribu\u00eddas em <b data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"16\">67 g\u00eaneros<\/b> e <b data-path-to-node=\"10,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"29\">33 fam\u00edlias<\/b>;<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\">Abrangendo <b data-path-to-node=\"10,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"11\">10 ordens<\/b> distintas.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"11\">A ordem <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"8\">Siluriformes<\/b> (peixes-gato, como os bagres e cascudos) foi a mais representativa, respondendo por <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"105\">41%<\/b> das esp\u00e9cies identificadas, seguida de perto pelos <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"160\">Characiformes<\/b> (peixes de escama, como as tra\u00edras e piabas) com <b data-path-to-node=\"11\" data-index-in-node=\"223\">32%<\/b>. Esp\u00e9cies muito conhecidas na regi\u00e3o, como a <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"138\">tra\u00edra<\/b> (<i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"146\">Hoplias malabaricus<\/i>), o <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"170\">mand\u00ed<\/b> (<i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"177\">Pimelodella cristata<\/i>) e o <b data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"203\">corimbata<\/b> (<i data-path-to-node=\"14\" data-index-in-node=\"214\">Prochilodus lacustris<\/i>), na verdade escondem m\u00faltiplas esp\u00e9cies diferentes que agora precisam de novos estudos taxon\u00f4micos para serem formalmente descritas e nomeadas.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"15\">Ci\u00eancia Viva e Aplicada<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-path-to-node=\"16\">Al\u00e9m de solucionar d\u00favidas hist\u00f3ricas da classifica\u00e7\u00e3o biol\u00f3gica, o trabalho ressalta o poder da biologia molecular para mapear ecossistemas sob press\u00e3o ambiental.
